Eleven posts up for grabs at Wyre Forest District Council in May elections

Eleven councillor posts are up for grabs on Wyre Forest District Council in local elections next month.

The vacancies are for one seat each in Aggborough & Spennells, Franche & Habberley North, Areley Kings & Riverside, Mitton, Bewdley & Rock, Offmore & Comberton, Blakebrook & Habberley South, Wribbenhall & Arley, Broadwaters, Wyre Forest Rural and Foley Park & Hoobrook.

Nomination papers must be submitted by 4pm on Friday. The election will take place on Thursday May 3.

The council is currently under the firm control of the Conservatives, with 22 Conservatives, three Labour, three Independents, two Independent Community & Health Concern, and two Liberal Democrats across a total of 12 wards.

The council has been using an electoral system in which a third of the seats are elected at a time. From next year they will switch to an all-out system, in which all 33 seats are vacated every four years.
